Home • PC Game Hardware • PC Game News • Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 2nd December 2019 / 3:10PM I haven’t highlighted a great deal of pre-built gaming PC this Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but this Lenovo C530 Cube build is actually a pretty sweet and perfectly proportioned package. Normally £1400, this pint-sized powerhouse can be had for £749 by using the code LASTCHANCE on Lenovo’s website right now, giving you a massive saving of £650. As well as an RTX 2060 graphics card (the best Nvidia GPU for 1440p gaming on High to max settings), you get an Intel Core i5-9400 CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at a nippy 2666MHz, a 512GB PCIe SSD, six USB ports on the back plus another two on the front, as well as built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, all in a tiny, compact 19 litre chassis. Handy, say, if you’ve been itching to put a gaming PC in your living room but don’t want a massive bulky tower clogging up the … [Read more...] about Lenovo’s RTX 2060-powered cube PC is £650 off for Cyber Monday

AOC G2460PF review: Superb 144Hz gaming for £170
Home • PC Game Hardware • 22 In sync with your budget Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 17th November 2017 / 10:00AM Take one look at the AOC G2460PF’s price of £170 (at time of writing) and you’d probably think it was a pretty standard kind of display. After all, 24in Full HD monitor prices often start around the £100-200 mark, and you can find several screens around the same £170 mark that don’t have anything to shout about other than a mildly adjustable stand. AOC’s G2460PF, however, is anything but ordinary, and it’s one of the best gaming monitors around. Despite its low price, this monitor has a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync support, plus a height-adjustable and rotatable stand. It’s not overly garish, either, as the only concession it makes to being a so-called ‘gaming monitor’ is a thin red strip that runs along the lower bezel. Otherwise, you can happily put this on any kind … [Read more...] about AOC G2460PF review: Superb 144Hz gaming for £170
Corsair K70 Lux RGB review: Softly, softly with the MX Silent edition
Home • PC Game Hardware • 37 Treading lightly Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 16th January 2018 / 7:00PM As much as I loved the Asus ROG Claymore when I tested it at the end of last year, there’s still a very large part of me that balks at the idea of spending £150 on a mechanical keyboard. After years of being perfectly happy with admittedly terrible plastic membrane concoctions, it’s hard to let go. The Corsair K70 Lux RGB isn’t any less expensive at roughly £145 or $170, but at least this one doesn’t charge you an extra £50 for a number pad, making it better value overall for those looking to make the jump. Can it break into our best gaming keyboard rankings? Let’s take a look. Available with several different types of Cherry MX switches, the K70 Lux RGB comes in the clacky clacky red variety that’s better for gaming, an even clackier blue model that’s better suited to typing, a quieter, more … [Read more...] about Corsair K70 Lux RGB review: Softly, softly with the MX Silent edition

Logitech G603 wireless gaming mouse review
Home • PC Game Hardware • 63 The perfect mouse, except... Alec Meer Contributor 28th November 2017 / 6:00PM After too many years and far too many mice which now clog up a desk drawer, I thought I’d found my new best gaming mouse. Wireless, multi-device, speedy and responsive but without looking like a broken piece of someone’s Gears of War Halloween costume. A gaming mouse that did not look like a gaming mouse: Valhalla indeed. Logitech’s G603 is so, so close to being the rodent to end all rodents – but for one fatal flaw. My quest continues. 2013’s G602 (review here) was a wireless gaming mouse which ticked many boxes, save for some dunderheaded side button design and a ‘Michael Bay’s 14th Transformers film’ aesthetic. The reason for that was its polling rate – how often the mouse tells the PC what it’s doing – of 500Hz (about 2 milliseconds), compared to the wireless norm of 125Hz (approx … [Read more...] about Logitech G603 wireless gaming mouse review
