How did they do that? It's becoming an increasingly common question with the top-end ports arriving on Switch, with developers delivering excellent work in bridging the immense power gap between PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo hybrid. But some might say that no Switch port is as ambitious as The Witcher 3: Complete Edition, created by CD Projekt RED with the port carried out by Saber Interactive. It's a vast game with upwards of 100 hours of gameplay, set within a massive open world - with no cuts to content. We've already posted our impressions of the game running in Switch's handheld mode and taken a closer look at some docked direct feed capture and we're impressed. Yes, of course, there are compromises and cutbacks - just as there are on all of Switch's 'miracle' console ports - but it is The Witcher 3. In fact, it's an all-new take on the game, transitioning across to mobile hardware for the first time.During a press event for the game held a couple of weeks ago at Nintendo's UK … [Read more...] about Tech Interview: How was The Witcher 3 ported to Nintendo Switch?

Dark Souls Remastered on the Switch took a little bit longer to come out compared to its fellow PC, PS4, and Xbox One siblings. While those versions (developed by a Polish studio named QLOC), were released in May of this year, the Switch version (developed by Virtuos) didn’t release until last month. In an interview with VGR, Lukas Codr, an Executive Producer at Virtuos, and Tang Mengjia, a Game Producer at the company, gave a little insight into how long the porting process took and some other challenges they had to overcome. When asked how long the Dark Souls Remastered port took, Lukas Codr stated: “A bit more than a year. At the beginning, it took us several months until we got a playable version running because we had to make sure that both code and data are fully compatible with 64-bit format. We’ve also spent quite a lot of time on polishing and performance optimisation. And since there were both physical and digital versions of the … [Read more...] about Dark Souls Remastered Took a Little Over a Year to Port to the Switch
Rage 2 is one of the games that we saw at E3 2018 and it seems that the game might be coming to the Nintendo Switch. While the game is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Nintendo Switch users don’t need to feel left out as id Software is looking into bringing Rage 2 to Nintendo Switch. Studio director Tim Willits touched on the matter and the following is what he had to say in this regard: We’re looking at the tech right now, and we’re still evaluating that…We stream everything, and we’re just looking…because everything is open, everything’s available, so there’s no level loads. In a recent interview with Game Informer, game’s director Scott Phillips had a detailed interview session answering many questions about the game including what’s coming and what the fans can expect from the game. Eventually, at one point, he was asked about the possibilities of Nintendo Switch version of the game to which you will find at 6:07 below. In short Game Informer asked: Could this come to Switch? and Phillips replied by saying “I don’t know how to program, so, otherwise I would do it myself.” The chances of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey are very less at the moment and obviously, as to how much massive it is, it’s definitely going to be hard to port it to Nintendo Switch. Still, … [Read more...] about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Director Would Port It To Switch If He Could
A trophy list for Fallout Shelter on PlayStation 4 slipped out overnight, perhaps portending the base-building game’s arrival on that platform. Expohase has the list of 36 trophies, which includes a platinum for getting every one, so you know it’s for PlayStation. Fallout Shelter, developed by Behaviour Interactive, was a surprise announcement from Bethesda Softworks during the publisher’s E3 2015 show. The free-to-play game then launched on Windows PC in 2016 and then Xbox One in 2017. Bethesda boasted of 29 million player-hours logged during Fallout Shelter’s first month of release. The trophy list could mean anything, whether a straight port of the original game to PlayStation 4 or a ride-along re-release as Bethesda puts out a sequel to it or other new game in the series. Fallout 76 and Rage 2 will likely dominate tomorrow’s show at 6:30 p.m. ET, but maybe there’s something more to say about their charming spinoff. … [Read more...] about Fallout Shelter trophy list hints at PlayStation 4 port
