Developer Insomniac Games recently commissioned Manhattan artist Jason Freeny to create a unique set of Ratchet and Clank scultures for an online auction in support of the Starlight Children's Foundation. The eBay bidding wars have already begun for Freeny's stylized set which features a 12” Quark sculpture tattooed with Insomniac autographs, a 10” Ratchet with exposed Lombaxian innards, and a 6” Clank sculpture with exposed circuitry and, uh...brain? "Let's call it artistic interpretation,” explains an Insomniac rep, continuing, “Clank is certainly a mechanical character in the series." At time of publishing, the top bid for Freeny's artistic set was at $665.00, with 6 bidders jockeying for top spot. Insomniac plans to split the proceeds of its auction with the Starlight Children's Foundation in increments of 10% for every $1000 dollar level. Freeny is a former toy designer and experienced illustrator who's unique cross-section interpretations of pop culture characters has … [Read more...] about Ratchet and Clank get dissected for children’s charity

New on ComiXology Unlimited (March 2021): All the comics and manga arriving
There is a plethora of comic books coming to Amazon's ComiXology Unlimited digital comics reading service in march - Marvel, DC, Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Boom! Studios, and more… but one big thing stands out. Vertigo. The complete runs of the original Hellblazer (300 issues!), Preacher (66 issues!), and Lucifer series (75 issues!) have been added to ComiXology Unlimited this month. In addition, over 200 issues of various Swamp Thing series have also been added. No specific reason has been given for this Vertigo-centric comics dump, but in some cases, it's best not to complain and just start reading (or re-reading, as the case may be). Some decidedly un-Vertigo fare being added as well this month is a heaping helping of Disney cartoon tales. Several collections have been added of Mickey House, Donald Duck, Donald and Mickey, Uncle Scrooge, and DuckTales. Staying on that anthropomorphic tip, there's also Snoopy: Beagle of Mars and six volumes of Garfield arriving this … [Read more...] about New on ComiXology Unlimited (March 2021): All the comics and manga arriving
Untold Boba Fett and Han Solo story explored in new Marvel Comics Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters
Boba Fett didn't take Han Solo's frozen-in-carbonite body directly from Cloud City on Bespin to Jabba the Hut's palace on Tatooine. And for the first time, Marvel Comics will tell the story of what he did do in the 'War of the Bounty Hunters,' a six-month crossover event in its Star Wars comic book line, which as a reminder, is considered official Star Wars canon. "Something had to happen in between that intervening time between Empire and Jedi. And I was like, 'I would like to tell that story, and I would like it to be about Boba Fett and what happens to him,'" explains writer Charles Soule in an official announcement. The series and its crossover issue will reveal "what Fett experienced on his journey to deliver Solo." Debuting in May and running through October, the storyline kicks off with War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha #1 by Soule and artist Steve McNiven on May 5, and then spins out into Marvel’s post-Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back line, including Star Wars , … [Read more...] about Untold Boba Fett and Han Solo story explored in new Marvel Comics Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters
The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler
While Bravely Second: End Layer continued the story of the original game, Bravely Default 2 is now hoping to continue the story of the franchise some six years later. The third (and slightly confusingly named) installment of the series will launch on Nintendo Switch this Friday, February 26, and producer Masashi Takahashi hopes to see it establish Bravely as a full-fat series home to independent but thematically connected stories and games. He and character designer Naoki Ikushima have also worked to marry the best parts of Bravely with lessons learned from Octopath Traveler, the last Switch JRPG that the two worked on, and player feedback has shaped that process at nearly every level. A return to form "While I am really proud that so many people have played the games and like the series, at the same time I also feel with each game we had a lot of points to reflect on," Takahashi says of the series thus far. "With Bravely Second: End Layer, we received a lot of comments mainly … [Read more...] about The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler
