In this article, I’ve focused on what kind of performance you can expect to see from Red Dead Redemption 2’s recommended PC requirements (that is, with a GTX 1060 in your system), but you can also hop over to my separate PC performance article on what you really need to get Red Dead 2 running at 60fps for a more detailed look at what other graphics cards are capable of (and surprise, you don’t need an RTX 2060 like Nvidia previously … [Read more...] about Red Dead Redemption 2 PC settings guide: How to get the best performance

You don’t need an RTX 2060 to get 60fps in Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1080p
Home • PC Game Hardware • Red Dead Redemption 2 • 51 Awkward... Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 8th November 2019 / 5:00PM Earlier this week, Nvidia claimed you’d need one of their RTX 2060 cards to hit 60fps on High quality settings at 1920×1080 in Red Dead Redemption 2, which at the time sounded rather excessive. After all, an RTX 2060 is generally what I’d recommend for playing games at 2560×1440 these days, so to say you’d need this kind of calibre card for 1080p on not even the highest possible quality settings in RDR2 just didn’t sound right – especially when Rockstar’s own PC requirements for the game only recommends a GTX 1060. Fortunately, I’ve finally been able to do some proper testing of my own after today’s 1.14 patch fixed my Rockstar launcher woes, so I no longer have to use my lasso on Matthew’s PC to do a bit of benchmarking – and I’m happy to report Red … [Read more...] about You don’t need an RTX 2060 to get 60fps in Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1080p
Nvidia have come up with a list of graphics cards for playing Red Dead 2 at 60fps and it ain’t purdy
Home • PC Game Hardware • PC Game News • Red Dead Redemption 2 • 30 Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 5th November 2019 / 10:02AM Saddle up cowpokes, because Red Dead Redemption 2 rides out on PC at 1pm UK time today (5am PST). I must admit, I let out a big sigh of relief when I saw Rockstar’s PC requirements for Red Dead 2 the other week, as their recommended graphics card topped out at just a 6GB GTX 1060. Easy, I thought. However, Nvidia have just published their own list of recommended graphics cards for hitting that all important 60fps in Rockstar’s spruced up cowboy game, and all I can say is YIKES. As a reminder, here are Rockstar’s PC requirements for Red Dead 2 below, which are all very nice and not that demanding. Hop on over to Nvidia’s list, however, and they reckon you’ll need at least an RTX 2060 to get 60fps on High at 1920×1080. That is not my definition of nice and not that demanding. … [Read more...] about Nvidia have come up with a list of graphics cards for playing Red Dead 2 at 60fps and it ain’t purdy
Red Dead 2’s PC requirements are gonna put a bullet in your SSD
Home • PC Game Hardware • PC Game News • Red Dead Redemption 2 • 8 Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 9th October 2019 / 4:47PM Rockstar have quietly added the PC requirements for Red Dead Redemption 2 to the game’s Rockstar Launcher page. The good news? It’s not going to murder your PC. The bad news? It will absolutely gobble up your PC’s storage banks, as it’s currently recommending you keep at least 150GB set aside for it. I know it’s a big game and all, but that’s another 50GB on top of its already hefty console counterparts, which came in at 99GB for the PS4 and 107GB for the Xbox One, according to Rockstar’s support page. Heck, even Final Fantasy XV and its 4K texture pack don’t top 150GB at the moment, so I’d jolly well hope that Rockstar are packing some ludicrously lovely PC effects into this release to justify its storage-hogging install size. Still, provided you’ve got … [Read more...] about Red Dead 2’s PC requirements are gonna put a bullet in your SSD
Red Dead 2 on PC has even lovelier horses for strapping alligators to
Home • PC Game Hardware • PC Game News • Red Dead Redemption 2 • 21 Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 10th October 2019 / 10:07AM Shortly after revealing Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC requirements last night, Rockstar went into more detail about the specific PC enhancements that will be yee-hawing their way into the game come November 5th. HDR, “faster frame rates” and support for 4K resolutions and beyond were arguably the biggest headlines from Rockstar’s announcement post (still no word on ray tracing, sadly), but let’s face it, all we really want to know is how good our horses are going to look. Indeed, with talk of improved draw distances and higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for superior day and night lighting, Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to be quite the looker on PC – and I say that as someone who watched RPS video bud Matthew play countless hours of it on Xbox One X at the end … [Read more...] about Red Dead 2 on PC has even lovelier horses for strapping alligators to
