The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth just received its fifth and final Booster Pack update on PC, adding new items, enemies, room layouts, a secret playable character, and more.As with previous Booster Packs, the Forgotten Booster (as this latest one is know) requires the Afterbirth+ expansion, and much of the new stuff it brings is the work of the dedicated Binding of Isaac modding community, albeit touched and and polished to a sheen at publisher Nicalis before finding its way to the masses. The eight new mod items take the form of the Blanket, Sacrificial Altar, Lil Spewer, Marbles, Mystery Egg, Flat Stone, Rotten Penny, and Baby Bender, and are joined by a couple of community created visual fixes in the form of the Real Cone Head and More Dirt Sprites mods. Elsewhere, the Forgotten Update adds five new enemies, one new boss, a secret playable character, a staggering 817 new rooms, 64 new achievements - 36 of which are from the Switch version of the game - and "literally 100s" of fixes … [Read more...] about The Binding of Isaac gets its final, free Booster Pack content update on PC

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is a collection of add-ons for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Afterbirth, respectively the definitive edition of the breakout roguelike shooter and a separate DLC pack. Today, Afterbirth+ received its final update, The Forgotten Update, which adds "new items, new unlocks, new trinkets, new enemies, a new character and over 800 new rooms to explore." As creator Edmund McMillen said on Tumblr, it also comes with a new boss, plus it's free to players who own Afterbirth+.Earlier this month, McMillen and James Id released the first trailer for their upcoming duo project: The Legend of Bum-bo, a match-four dungeon-crawler about a distinctly Isaac-y blob named Bum-bo and his favorite gold coin. Back in March, he also revisited Mewgenics, a strange little cat game which McMillen says is back on track but still a few years away. … [Read more...] about The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ update adds a new character and over 800 rooms
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. ‘Played’ in the title suggests something concluded, but clearly if you did ever play The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (plus its various expansions), you’re almost certainly still playing it. Forever and ever. The lumbering movement, the achingly slow shots, the interchangeable rooms – where’s the thrill, where’s the verve? Why would I or anyone else give so much time to this excessively simple world of poor, gore and mutant Catholic imagery? Oh, you don’t even know. You just don’t. Not until you are a dozen hours deep, and you have wielded powers you’d never even dreamed of. Not until you think of those first couple of slow, … [Read more...] about Have you played… The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth?
Edmund McMillen is practically the human representation of game teases. Often talking in cryptic language or offering game news in vague tweets, McMillen knows how to keep his fanbase guessing. And while some of his most recent statements have cleared up questions about The Binding of Isaac content, there was also some vague hints at new DLC on the horizon. In a developer Q&A on McMillen’s dev blog, McMillen addressed the booster content of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+. First on his list of priorities is finishing up the last free booster for PC, which should be out “in a month or so.” Adding to that, he added that once “all the boosters release on PC, Nicalis will start porting them to console.” Onto the more substantive questions, he addressed whether The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ will be getting an Xbox One release. McMillen had an answer for that in no uncertain terms: yes, i can officially say that Afterbirth+ … [Read more...] about Ed McMillen Details The Binding of Isaac Xbox One Release and New DLC
