Bandai Namco has finally dropped a release date for action RPG Scarlet Nexus, arriving on Steam June 24th, 2021. First announced a while back, Scarlet Nexus didn't have that much detail around it until recently, and it's actually looking pretty intriguing. Players will experience the story from one of two perspectives, psychics Yuito or Kasane, who are fighting terrifying psychic monsters known as Others who "descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains." The design of the monsters is weird and compelling, as the Others' forms are amalgamations of different objects and human parts. One's got a valve wheel for a face and a tree head. Another's got a big arm made out of smaller arms. The combo-driven combat is about psychokinetic powers: Lifting, breaking, and throwing pieces of the environment around to crush monsters. There are also companion characters with a variety of powers, like Kyoka who has the ability to make duplicates of herself. Scarlet Nexus will also have … [Read more...] about It’s psychics versus monsters in action RPG Scarlet Nexus, coming in June

Zack Snyder’s Justice League trilogy would have ended with Superman’s son becoming Batman
Zack Snyder has revealed more about his plans for future Justice League instalments – including the surprise character arc that would have seen Superman’s offspring become the new Caped Crusader. Speaking to Vanity Fair , Snyder revealed that one of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments in Zack Snyder’s Justice League – Lois Lane’s pregnancy test – was leading somewhere. "It was going to be Lois and Superman’s son," Snyder said of what would have been a Justice League 3 reveal. "He doesn’t have any powers, and then he was going to end up being the new Batman." Then, a time jump: "Twenty years later, on the anniversary of [Batman’s] death, they take young Bruce Kent down to the Batcave and they say, ‘Your Uncle Bruce would’ve been proud if you did this." Yes, Batman dies in Snyder’s grand plan. The Justice League trilogy would have included a Darkseid invasion in Justice League 2 , the Justice League fighting back, and Bats making the ultimate sacrifice. Snyder … [Read more...] about Zack Snyder’s Justice League trilogy would have ended with Superman’s son becoming Batman
This game about airports made me weirdly emotional
I'm the guy who turns up for flights with hours to spare. Not because I'm scared I'll miss the plane, but because I love hanging out in airports. It's like taking a break from life. An abstract space stretched between two realities. Nothing to do but eat, drink, relax, buy shit you don't need, watch the world go by, and maybe catch up on some podcasts. So when I heard about Interminal, a game about wandering aimlessly around an airport, I had to play it. Interminal was developed by Ivan Notaroš and Ferran Bertomeu for PROCJAM, "a laid back and relaxed jam about making things that make things." In it you explore an endless airport terminal filled with procedurally generated duty free stands. The randomised brands—with names like Practicaralle, Fousol, Fasciosphere, and Natumisme—are absurd, but could easily be real high-end perfumes. And they never end. This forever terminal is infinite, and the neatly arranged stands of dainty toiletries with silly names never stop coming. One … [Read more...] about This game about airports made me weirdly emotional
Crusader Kings 3: Northern Lords is great if you’re already infatuated with the Norse
We've finally been graced with the first piece of DLC for Crusader Kings 3 . Northern Lords is a Norse-themed DLC that adds new events and mechanics to dynasties in Northern Europe. Paradox is calling these 'Flavor Packs' as opposed to full expansions, similar to the Immersion Packs they released for England, Russia, and Iberia in Europa Universalis IV. This means the changes hone in on a specific part of the world rather than mixing up the pot for everyone. It's pretty small in scope overall, but there's a decent amount here for only $7/£5.19. The most immediately noticeable additions are all visual. Norse characters can pick from an armload of new hairstyles and beards, and wear historically appropriate clothing that even changes if you adopt a different culture or convert to a new religion. The coats of arms, too, reflect whether or not you've stayed true to your pagan traditions. The shield for the Kingdom of Sweden, for example, bears a gold Thor's Hammer if you form it as a … [Read more...] about Crusader Kings 3: Northern Lords is great if you’re already infatuated with the Norse
The best gaming routers for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox 2021
The best gaming routers now deliver better than ever before. With Wi-Fi 6 here, the promise is for network speeds of up to 6 Gbps, able to keep up with the latest in faster internet speeds. While many ISP’s offer a router, their rental fees get expensive over the longer term, and for the best gaming experience, it is a more effective solution to upgrade, go on your own and get one of the best gaming routers. Before purchase, it is critically important to get up to speed on the differences between routers. In order to do that, check out the specs of the different models. A crucial spec is the type of Wi-Fi used in the model. The last generation was 802.11ac, which is being replaced by the 802.11ax standard. Confused yet? Well, it gets worse as the Wi-Fi Alliance tried to simplify this by designating 802.11ac as Wi-Fi 5, and also 802.11ax as Wi-Fi 6. As Wi-Fi 6 is the latest wireless standard, you’ll need to purchase one of the best gaming routers (and a new one at that) to enjoy … [Read more...] about The best gaming routers for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox 2021
