Remnants of Naezith caught my eye last month with a flashy trailer showing off its grappling hook platforming, neon lights and limitless speed, and now it's swung onto Steam properly. It'll cost you around $9/£6.50, and it might be worth considering. The grappling hook is its main draw, and you use it to hurl and pull yourself through its 80 levels across four chapters. The idea is to stay one step ahead of the game, planning your next hook in advance so you can keep your speed ramping up. There's no speed limit, but making sure you avoid objects is going to prove difficult—it looks like one of those games in which you'll want to play every level multiple times until you've committed its layout to memory and can fly through without hitting any obstacles. Levels will have their own quirks to keep you on your toes: in one you'll be moving upwards as the water level rises, in another you'll avoid spinning saw blades. You can find 'remnants' to unlock hidden levels or try … [Read more...] about Grappling hook platformer Remnants of Naezith is out now

God of War director talks FIFA-inspired combat, learning from Mad Max, and getting your gear from the dwarves who made Thor’s Hammer
Few people have stayed with God Of War for as long as Cory Barlog, writer and director of Kratos’ return on PS4. After taking up the mantle of lead animator on the first game, he returned as director on its sequel before leaving early into the threequel’s development to work with Mad Max’s George Miller, and juggle God Of War on Sony’s PSP handheld. So why come back for PS4’s soft reboot? “I think it’s rewarding, that’s the whole point of it,” he says as we sit down to chat. “These things take so long and so much of our lives that I felt like it had to mean something to me. I had to feel like I was digging a little deeper into this character and this world. Want more Kratos? Everything you need to know about God of War “For this one, it’s more like instead of babysitting it’s my own kid – meaning when I go home from work my worry never stops... at all. I am constantly thinking about this, because … [Read more...] about God of War director talks FIFA-inspired combat, learning from Mad Max, and getting your gear from the dwarves who made Thor’s Hammer

New digital store Robot Cache will use blockchain to let users resell games
Being able to sell used copies of digital games is an idea that gets kicked around every so often, and now it’s back with a web 3.0 digital cyberpyramid blockchain cryptocurrency twist. New digital store Robot Cache will let people resell games and receive 25% of the cash back – in cryptocurrency. Bungie outline 2018 plans to salve Destiny 2’s wounds
It feels like public opinion on Destiny 2 plunged headlong off a cliff in the final two months of 2017. While fundamentally solid, the loot-heavy FPS’s brief first expansion left many dissatisfied, and controversies over XP-throttling and Bungie’s seeming obsession with pushing loot crates as the primary means of character customization left many with less-than-kind things to say about the game. In an attempt to head the worst of the PR off at the pass, Bungie released a broad development road-map this week, detailing their plans for new content and reworking of existing systems from here until late 2018. I attempted to decipher some of it for those not already neck-deep in weird immortal space-knight lore. Most immediate of the planned changes is a patch coming on January 30th, which is set to add the Masterwork equipment rarity tier to armor, after the community seemed to react positively to its introduction on weaponry. Masterwork armor’s most immediate advantage … [Read more...] about Bungie outline 2018 plans to salve Destiny 2’s wounds
