Genshin Impact’s 1.4 update , Invitation of Windblume, will release on March 17. Invitation of Windblume heralds a raft of shiny new content, including new four-star playable character Rosaria and new four-star weapon, the Windblume Ode. “In version 1.4, we’ll be adding Rosaria ‘Thorny Benevolence’ as a new four-star playable character,” writes miHoYo’s technical director, Zhenzhong Yi, on the PlayStation Blog . "Rosaria is a sister of the Church of Favonius who players may have already encountered during their adventures with Albedo in Dragonspine. Bearing a Cryo Vision, Rosaria is a powerful polearm wielder with an Elemental Skill that allows her to instantly shift behind her enemy, piercing and slashing them to deal Cryo damage. More Than 5,000 Final Fantasy 14 Accounts Banned For Real-Money Trading
More than 5,000 Final Fantasy 14 players likely woke up a few days ago to find their accounts had been banned. According to the development team, these players were engaged in real-money trading and advertisements, which could have ruined the game's balance. In a post on the game's official website , Square Enix said that 5,037 accounts were banned for participation in real-money trading and "other illicit activities," while another 814 were banned for advertising real-money trading. Players can submit a cheating report within the game client to help curb the problem, and they can also report advertisements to stop others from offering these services in the game. It probably won't completely eliminate the problem, but it should help reduce its prevalence. Things like selling power-leveling services and other gear you don't want for real money in MMO games is not new, but it's certainly still frustrating to see other players literally pay to win with the best gear that they … [Read more...] about More Than 5,000 Final Fantasy 14 Accounts Banned For Real-Money Trading
Take-Two’s CEO reckons we’re “ready” for $70 video games
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed he thinks gamers are "ready" for $70/£65 video games. Talking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference this week and transcribed by our friends at VGC , Zelnick was asked to expand on why the publisher had decided to add $10 to the price of NBA 2K21. The first publisher to confirm a price hike for next-gen video games, Zelnick said the decision came because the game offered "an array of extraordinary experiences" and the last frontline price increase in the US was fifteen years ago. "We announced a $70 price point for NBA 2K21, our view was that we're offering an array of extraordinary experiences, lots of replayability, and the last time there was a frontline price increase in the US was 2005, 2006, so we think consumers were ready for it," Zelnick said. Of course, there were considerably fewer microtransactions and DLC in mainstream games back then and interestingly, he could not be drawn on future pricing of … [Read more...] about Take-Two’s CEO reckons we’re “ready” for $70 video games
Here’s an adorable factory game about machine learning and cats
Machine learning is perhaps old hat by now, but what's never going to be old hat is cats. People just can't seem to get enough of them. Learning Factory is an Early Access game that just released last month about building an automated factory that produces the things cats want to buy, then sells them. Your job is to keep the shelves stocked and the cats happy—and earn money by selling at optimal prices. By making offers to cats your factory can train up machine learning models that will then automatically adjust market prices to account for trends and the wallets of the cats in question. Rich cats want fancy expensive cat towers and food, while normal cats just want a good deal on a ball of yarn and construction worker cats want raw materials. It's a near concept that bears out pretty well in action: Do you want to try to make a huge, all-inclusive single machine learning model or instead focus on specific models tailored to each customer type?
