In case you've forgotten after all this time, Biomutant is a third-person open-world action game starring cute little animal characters and less-cute, less-little animalistic monsters. You may know it as "that game with promo art of the red panda protagonist in a scarf" (see above). Developer Experiment 101 describes it as "a kung fu fable featuring fantastic creatures to discover, dangerous factions to navigate, and a vibrant world to explore with mechs, paragliders, balloons, mounts, jet skis and much more." That's a whole to pack into one game, but to its credit, the most recent Biomutant gameplay trailer showed a lot of this in action. … [Read more...] about Biomutant release date set for May after years of back-and-forth

More than just a mini Monster Hunter, Little Devil Inside is at the forefront of a new wave of PS5 indies
All the greatest adventures start in the mind. An idea, an impulse, an imagined goal: from there, it bleeds out into the world around you, and colours it to match. And this particular adventure, conceived many years ago by creative director Kody Lee, captures that reality perfectly. Set in a mysterious – but not magical – world, it spans muddy swamps and vast deserts, murky ocean depths and shivering mountainous heights, foggy forests and icy tundras that crack and echo underfoot. But its creators take great pains to explain to us that this semi-open world is actually quite compact. With much of the work on Hitman 3 drawing to a close over the next few months, there's a chance that IO Interactive will be able to progress faster on the game, but don't expect to see the game release for a few years yet. … [Read more...] about Project 007 won’t be based on any of the James Bond actors
Balan Wonderworld sure feels a lot like a classic Sonic Team game
First impressions aren't great, then, and even when experiencing Balan Wonderworld on a PlayStation 5 it can feel lesser than many of the Sonic Adventure tributes cobbled together in Dreams that I've played. But! That initial disappointment is soon countered by some of that old Sonic Team magic: composer Ryo Yamazaki does a great job emulating the uplifting elevator music of Naka and Ohshima's earlier work, and as you nose through the scruffy levels on offer in the demo you slowly pick up new outfits and abilities. There's a pig suit that lets you stomp on enemies, a wolf suit that grants you a whirlwind attack, a football kit that unlocks a brief but entertaining free-kick mini-game and all sorts of gems and trinkets to hoover up dotted around each level. … [Read more...] about Balan Wonderworld sure feels a lot like a classic Sonic Team game
