Godzilla vs. Kong has remained top of the US box office chart. In its second weekend on release, the big budget monster movie added a further $13.4 million to its domestic gross. While this was a dip from its opening weekend's $48 million gross, it's still an impressive figure given the movie is also available to stream on HBO Max. With a US total of $69.5 million to date, it's the most successful US theatrical release of the pandemic era. Godzilla vs. Kong has also continued to earn big money internationally. The movie has made $357.8 million worldwide so far, and it is very close to overtaking Christoper Nolan's Tenet as the most successful movie of the past 12 months. Tenet made $363.1 million worldwide, but this was over several months of release, whereas Godzilla vs. Kong only opened in the first Asian markets on March 24. The famous Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore, which turns 25 this year , is back in the news yet again. One of the stars of this past weekend's Masters golf tournament was the youngster Will Zalatoris, who put on a heck of a performance to finish second in his Masters debut. Many people remarked that Zalatoris looks like Sandler's first caddy from Happy Gilmore, and Zalatoris and Sandler got in on the fun. Microsoft is just a few weeks away from launching its two next-generation consoles , the Xbox Series X and Series S . The two consoles differ significantly in terms of raw graphical power and price, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer expects the least powerful of the two to sell better. In an interview with Kotaku , Spencer is asked about his thoughts on console sales during the upcoming holiday season. With stock limited and the appetite for new hardware outstripping potential supply, Spencer expects the Xbox Series X to take an early lead. He does not, however, expect that to be the case over the course of the generation. Marvel Comics is beginning to gear up for its pre-July 2021 solicitation cycle and the latest edition is the first look at a series of variant covers by Marvel Stormbreaker artist Peach Momoko that the publisher calls "anime-inspired." The upcoming horror sequel The Forever Purge will be with us a week earlier than scheduled. As reported by Deadline , the latest movie in the hit franchise will now hit theaters on July 2. Universal has moved The Forever Purge forward a week following Paramount's decision to shift Top Gun: Maverick from July 2 back to November. The Forever Purge was previously due to arrive on July 9, the same day as Marvel's Black Widow. The Forever Purge is the fifth movie in the Purge series, and stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas, Tenoch Huerta, and Will Patton. It's directed by Everardo Gout, and written by franchise creator James DeMonaco. DeMonaco has previously announced that this will be the final Purge movie , but producer Jason Blum has stated that he hopes to talk him into writing some movies.
