The semiconductor shortage that is affecting everything from computers to car production is also hitting the video game industry, and according to Nintendo, that could lead to Switch console shortages later this year. In an interview with Nikkei ( via VGC ), Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said that while the company has the materials it needs for "immediate production of semiconductors" necessary for Nintendo Switch units, that could change later. "However, in Japan and other countries, demand has been very strong since the beginning of the year, and there is a possibility of shortages at some retailers in the future," Furukawa added. Thus far, it has been a perfect storm of difficulties in acquiring a new game console. This has been true particularly for the Switch's main competitors, the Xbox Series X|S and PS5, which released last November but have been extremely tough to find. Retailers' supplies were limited out of the gate, and many brick-and-mortar businesses weren't … [Read more...] about Nintendo Switch Stock Could Be Low In 2021 Due To Semiconductor Shortage

David Cage and Quantic Dream “shocked” by allegations of unhealthy studio culture
UPDATE 15TH JANUARY: This article previously translated a passage of a French report to say Guillaume de Fondaumière was accused of "pushing kisses" on staff at parties, but the translation is incorrect, as de Fondaumière himself later pointed out to me. After further consultation we have a more accurate translation. The accusation revolves around the common French greeting of air-kissing when two people meet. Guillaume de Fondaumière is accused of making more contact with his kisses than is considered appropriate. Guillaume de Fondaumière went on to tell me: "Please note I categorically refute all allegations, in particular 'hitting on staff'." Quantic Dream also formerly issued a statement yesterday evening in response to the reports. Guillaume de Fondaumière shared the statement on Twitter . "Articles published today level various allegations against Quantic Dream, its management and employees. "We categorically deny all of these allegations. Everything we know so far about the new Batman Arkham game, aka Court of Owls
If you discount Telltale’s adventures with the Caped Crusader and a VR spinoff, it’s been a long time – over four years – since we’ve donned the cape and cowl as Batman. While Rocksteady continues working behind doors locked very tightly, WB Montreal has gone a different route. Not only do we know that its next game takes place in the Batman universe, we know thanks to a premature tweet who the main antagonist will be. That’s not all we know, either. Sony Has Xbox Game Pass “Counterpunch,” God Of War Director Says
Xbox Game Pass doesn’t really have any competition on other systems, at least not any that offer the exact same sort of game selection and value. The streaming service PlayStation Now also doesn't offer same-day game launches for first-party titles. According to the original God of War director, however, there could be a more competitive counterpart coming to PlayStation. It just isn't clear exactly what form it will take. In YouTube stream on April 8 spotted by VGC , God of War and Twisted Metal developer David Jaffe said staff at Sony had let him know about a "counterpunch" to Xbox Game Pass. He admitted he didn't know what for that would take, nor does it sound like he knows when there will be an announcement. Jaffe hasn't worked at Sony since 2007, founding a few independent developers, though he did continue working with PlayStation exclusively in the years to follow. His most-recent game was Drawn to Death, which he directed at The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective … [Read more...] about Sony Has Xbox Game Pass “Counterpunch,” God Of War Director Says
Here’s a possible workaround for Outriders’ inventory wipe bug
Some Outriders players are reporting that a new patch that was supposed to stabilize the shooter has completely wiped their inventories of all their gear. A patch that hoped to fixed server errors is causing its own problems now by wiping inventories, resulting in some players refusing to return to the game until the problem has been resolved. The development team has acknowledged the problem and updated players, insisting that "resolving the inventory wipe is our top priority and will remain so until fixed". Developer People Can Fly now says it has applied "additional preventative measures on to our servers to guard against any inventory wipes", adding that while it is seeing a reduction in the issue, it is "continuing to lock in additional countermeasures". It appears that the problem persists , however. The official Twitter account also advises that a potential way of mitigating the wipe is "the moment you notice that your gear has disappeared, immediately … [Read more...] about Here’s a possible workaround for Outriders’ inventory wipe bug
