CD Projekt has broken its own financial records following the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December. Preliminary numbers for 2020 see CD Projekt earn $562m in sales revenue, more than double those of 2015 when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt debuted (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz ). Year-on-year, CD Projekt sales revenues quadrupled from a quiet 2019. Net profit was $303m, triple that of the previous record - again, from The Witcher 3's launch back in 2015. Much of this confirms what we knew already - that Cyberpunk 2077 was a hugely-anticipated game with years of hype and a mountain of pre-orders built up over time. Back at its launch in December, CD Projekt boasted that Cyberpunk 2077 had racked up 8m pre-orders and had become the fastest-selling PC game of all time . All seemed rosy. But, after launch, the picture quickly changed . CD Projekt recently detailed its plan to double down on both Cyberpunk and Witcher as its two core franchises over the coming years , and work on … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077 helped CD Projekt to best financial results ever

The Elder Scrolls Online Will Let You Buy Loot Box Items Without Real Money Soon
The Elder Scrolls Online is making a big change that could hint at how Bethesda approaches microtransactions in its games now that it's a Microsoft subsidiary. Items available in loot boxes will soon also be available without having to spend any real money. ZeniMax Online Studios made this known in a new update post (via Eurogamer ) that previews content coming in a mid-June update, so you will have to wait a little longer before trying it out. Resident Evil Village Brings Back Mercenaries Mode With First-Person View And New Features
Resident Evil Village will see the return of the arcade-style shooter mode The Mercenaries, a fan-favorite addition that we last saw in the franchise in Resident Evil 6 . But while the gist of the mode retains its similarities to what we've seen of The Mercenaries in the past--it's a fast-paced game type that focuses on killing enemies as quickly as you can to advance--the mode is getting a few new elements in Resident Evil Village that will change how it plays in some significant ways. Capcom announced the return of the mode in its 25th Anniversary Resident Evil Showcase presentation, where it showed off some of the gameplay we can expect when it launches with Resident Evil Village on May 7. The mode makes changes to what we've seen from The Mercenaries in the past, adopting the first-person perspective of Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 (as opposed to the past third-person perspective) and gives you the ability to buy different guns, ammo, and weapons upgrades in … [Read more...] about Resident Evil Village Brings Back Mercenaries Mode With First-Person View And New Features
