Blue light isn’t ruining your eyes, but you may want to reduce your exposure anyway

In 2020, MSI announced the PRO MP242 series of "eye care monitors", with "low blue light and flicker-free technology". I'd seen software and prescription lenses promising to cut down on blue-light exposure, but this was the first time I'd seen a computer monitor come with the feature built in. I asked an MSI rep why this had become a selling point—what is the actual danger of blue-light exposure? "Prolonged exposure could affect our vision by prematurely aging the eye and even cause retina damage which leads to macular degeneration," they said. "Also, as one of the shortest, yet highest energy wavelengths in the light spectrum, blue light flickers easier and longer than other types of weaker wavelengths. This flickering leads to eye strain and subsequently, further eye and vision damage." Health Kit Health Kit is PC Gamer's coverage of health, ergonomics, and wellness. What should I do if I have wrist pain? Nootropics marketed to esports viewers aren't … [Read more...] about Blue light isn’t ruining your eyes, but you may want to reduce your exposure anyway

Non-Stop Spider-Man #1 begins at a breakneck pace

Joe Kelly and Chris Bachalo have a history together, and Marvel re-teaming them for a new Spider-Man series is meant to mine that for more great stories. After just reading this four-page preview of next week's Non-Stop Spider-Man #1 … well… take a look: Image 1 of 3 Non-Stop Spider-Man #1 preview Image 2 of 3 Image 3 of 3 That 15-story drop, the catching of the broken glass… pretty great, huh? "Get ready for the most action-packed, pulse-pounding, adrenaline-pumping comic OF ALL TIME!" reads Marvel's description of Non-Stop Spider-Man #1. "As the name implies, once you read page one, panel one, SPIDER-MAN DOES NOT STOP! "A mystery at Empire State University thrusts Spider-Man into an adventure that starts in uptown Manhattan and will take him around the world, pitting him against Marvel Universe villains old and new and give you a Spider-Man adventure (and Spider-Man) the likes of which you've never seen." 6 things we’d like to see added to Valheim in Early Access

We recently spoke to Iron Gate Studios about Valheim's roadmap , and what changes are on the horizon for the massively popular Viking survival game in Early Access. But as we've been exploring the world, sailing the seas, and battling bosses , we've come up with our own handful of ideas about what we'd like to see added to Valheim in the months ahead. Based on what we've been having the most and least fun with, here are a few changes we'd like to see for Valheim while it's in Early Access. More farming This may very well be on the way with Valheim's first roadmap update, Hearth & Home, which will include a focus on food preparation and new recipes. I just hope that includes new farming options, too. I'm happy growing my little plot of turnips and carrots, and I know there are some late-game farming options I haven't yet unlocked. But it would be nice to have even more plants to grow and tend to for players who are just as content hanging around the base as they … [Read more...] about 6 things we’d like to see added to Valheim in Early Access

Genshin Impact guide: How to get more stamina

As you explore around the world of Teyvat in Genshin Impact , you’ll want more stamina to climb up high cliffs and sprint for longer periods of time. To do this, you’ll have to find Geoculus and Amenoculus to give to the various Statues of the Seven around the map. Amenoculus are blue floating orbs that are given to the Statues of the Seven in Mondstadt and Geoculus are golden floating orbs that Statues of the Seven in Liyue take. Both regions have several statues scattered around the map. When you have any Amenoculus or Geoculus, you can offer them to the statues by selecting “Worship Statue” when you get close. As you run around Teyvat, you’ll see little white four-pointed stars on your minimap to indicate that you’re near a Geoculus or Amenoculus. Simply run up to these on your map to grab them, though note that they may be hiding in a cave below you or sitting in the air high above you. When you give a statue its respective orb, it will level up, capping out at level … [Read more...] about Genshin Impact guide: How to get more stamina

I don’t know what’s going on in The Eternal Cylinder but I like it

Ace Team is responsible for aggressively odd videogames like  Zeno Clash, a punch-em-up where one of your enemies wears a crab for a mask and uses parachute squirrels with bombs on their backs as weapons, and Rock of Ages, where you smash a cheerful boulder through levels themed around different eras of art. It's a portfolio of unadulterated WTF-ery that The Eternal Cylinder adds even more WTF to. You begin as a freshly hatched 'trebhum', a waddling elephant-nosed Q*bert thing. Your trunk nose can suck up food and water, which is fitting because in the words of Wayne from Wayne's World, you certainly do suck. Your initial defense mechanism is the ability to spray water back out your nose—a defense entirely useless against the threat facing you and your entire alien world. That threat is a cylinder of impossible size and determination. This malevolent rolling pin stretches from horizon to horizon and periodically spins up, glowing like lava as it crushes all before it. When this … [Read more...] about I don’t know what’s going on in The Eternal Cylinder but I like it
