Both #MakeTheBatfleckMovie and #BlackCanaryHBOSeries were trending on Twitter, following trending events for #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and #DeathstrokeHBOMax – with Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello joining in with the latter two hashtag campaigns . Affleck first played Batman in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , and reprised his role in both Suicide Squad and Justice League . There were plans for a solo film with Affleck starring as Batman and Manganiello as the villain Deathstroke. Affleck eventually stepped away from the role, however, and the film was scrapped – the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman is now separate from the main set of DCEU films, and stars Robert Pattinson. The Forever Purge Release Date Moves Forward To July 2
The upcoming horror sequel The Forever Purge will be with us a week earlier than scheduled. As reported by Deadline , the latest movie in the hit franchise will now hit theaters on July 2. Universal has moved The Forever Purge forward a week following Paramount's decision to shift Top Gun: Maverick from July 2 back to November. The Forever Purge was previously due to arrive on July 9, the same day as Marvel's Black Widow. The Forever Purge is the fifth movie in the Purge series, and stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas, Tenoch Huerta, and Will Patton. It's directed by Everardo Gout, and written by franchise creator James DeMonaco. DeMonaco has previously announced that this will be the final Purge movie , but producer Jason Blum has stated that he hopes to talk him into writing some movies. New Will Smith Movie Emancipation Won’t Film In Georgia Due To Voting Law Changes
The new Will Smith movie Emancipation has pulled out of filming in Georgia due to the recently announced voting laws in the state. It is the first major Hollywood production to withdraw from the state--which is known to be a huge hub for movies--due to the controversial, Republican-backed laws. Director Antoine Fuqua announced the news on Monday in a joint statement with Smith. "At this moment in time, the Nation is coming to terms with its history and is attempting to eliminate vestiges of institutional racism to achieve true racial justice," they said. "We cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that enacts regressive voting laws that are designed to restrict voter access. The new Georgia voting laws are reminiscent of voting impediments that were passed at the end of Reconstruction to prevent many Americans from voting. Casa Bonita, The Restaurant Featured In South Park, Files For Bankruptcy
Casa Bonita, a popular Colorado landmark elevated to iconic restaurant since being featured in South Park, has filed for Chapter 11 protection according to The Denver Channel . The restaurant had been closed during the pandemic, though reportedly recently announced it would be reopening soon--but those plans are as of this writing now unclear. The Denver Channel further reports that the documents filed by Casa Bonita did not specify the amount of debt the company owes, though "the filing states that the company's noncontingent liquated debts are below $7.5 million." This is also not necessarily an indication that Casa Bonita will close for good, just that it at least needs time to reorganize and strategize over its debts. Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg is known for his strict diet and exercise program, but he's throwing some of that out the window to prepare for his next movie role. He is playing Father Stuart Long, a boxer who became a priest. Wahlberg told Jimmy Kimmel that, once the boxing scenes are finished for the new movie, which is called Father Stu, he plans to gain 30 pounds in six weeks to portray Long. "After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film. I'm challenging myself to put on 30 pounds for the next six weeks," he said. Wahlberg, who earned an Academy Award nomination for The Departed, said he's working with a trainer to try to put on the weight in a healthy way.
