In addition to announcing a new Battlefield mobile game, developer DICE has teased the next Battlefield game, which will be announced "soon." DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson said in a blog post that the new Battlefield game is being developed by the "biggest Battlefield development team ever." The game, whatever it turns out to be, will be released across console and PC this holiday. Gabrielson went on to tease that this game will offer a "return to all-out warfare." In addition to DICE's main team in Sweden, the company's office in Los Angeles is contributing to the game, alongside Criterion. Hitman developer IO Interactive is rumoured to be working on an Xbox-exclusive fantasy game with dragons. Several teases from industry insiders are all pointing into the same direction, and it’s not something that we’d have expected - IO Interactive might be working on an exclusive fantasy game in partnership with Xbox. This rumour comes to us from Windows Central Gaming , which posted a video on YouTube providing evidence and claims from insider contacts. The first piece of evidence comes from a GamesIndustry.biz article which pours over at a talk given by Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive. In the keynote talk, given at GI Live: Online , Abrak talked about IO’s new Barcelona studio and the studio’s attempts to move away from Hitman. IO Interactive, developer of Hitman, has begun working on a new fantasy IP for Xbox which features dragons. That's according to a report by Windows Central , which states this is one of several projects Microsoft is working on with external developers to be released under the Xbox Game Studios publishing banner. Eurogamer sources have also heard word of this new project within IO Interactive, which is described as being AAA in scope though still very early in development, and years away. It's currently planned to feature a large medieval-esque world and, yes, winged beasts of the dragon variety. IO Interactive has just finished work on Hitman 3, the third game in its successful World of Assassination trilogy, and has already announced it will work next on Project 007, a James Bond game . Nearly half of all games developers say their games have been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to survey data from this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC). The GDC ran its annual State of the Industry survey again this year and the data has shown that a staggering 44% of developers say their game has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is up from 33% of developers that were asked the same question this time last year. This was largely put down to the disruption caused by studios switching to remote working, along with the psychological strain that the pandemic is putting on developers The survey questioned over 3000 games industry professionals on a range of topics including how their studios had adjusted to remote working, which platforms they preferred working on , and their feelings on the current 30:70 split that most digital storefronts take.
