D&D has another date with horror on the way thanks to Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, a new sourcebook due to launch May 18 2021 . Featuring tools for creating everything from a tabletop zombie apocalypse to arenas inspired by Battle Royale, the tome is available to pre-order now at Amazon US or Amazon UK . Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft: $49.95 at Amazon US / £35.39 at Amazon UK Although it shares DNA with last year's Curse of Strahd Revamped , Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft is its own beast; the book tours multiple kinds of horror settings. Strahd's gothic homeland of Barovia gets plenty of love, of course, but its pages span Lovecraftian worlds and dark fairy tales as well. In fact, the sourcebook features more than 30 regions - known as the Domains of Dread - and the means for players to create their own. With that in mind, it brings a very different flavor to Dungeons & Dragons. “I’m a huge fan of all things horror," lead designer Wes … [Read more...] about Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft brings the zombie apocalypse to Dungeons & Dragons

BioWare Cuts Multiplayer From Dragon Age 4, Report Says
BioWare is back in the news again, as Bloomberg is reporting that Electronic Arts has decided to make a major change to Dragon Age 4. The report says developers on the game have been given the go-ahead to remove "all planned multiplayer components" of the RPG and make it a single-player only game. Dragon Age 4 will now be a purely single-player game, the site reported. The decision to cut Dragon Age 4's reported multiplayer features came from two main points, apparently. One was that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order , a single-player game, was a huge success with more than 10 million copies sold at launch. The other vector that reportedly drove the decision was that BioWare's multiplayer game Anthem struggled to find an audience. Just this week, BioWare announced that is had abandoned its "Anthem Next" plans to revitalize the game and would instead move on to other projects (though the servers are staying online). EA officially declined to comment to Bloomberg about the … [Read more...] about BioWare Cuts Multiplayer From Dragon Age 4, Report Says
The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler
While Bravely Second: End Layer continued the story of the original game, Bravely Default 2 is now hoping to continue the story of the franchise some six years later. The third (and slightly confusingly named) installment of the series will launch on Nintendo Switch this Friday, February 26, and producer Masashi Takahashi hopes to see it establish Bravely as a full-fat series home to independent but thematically connected stories and games. He and character designer Naoki Ikushima have also worked to marry the best parts of Bravely with lessons learned from Octopath Traveler, the last Switch JRPG that the two worked on, and player feedback has shaped that process at nearly every level. A return to form "While I am really proud that so many people have played the games and like the series, at the same time I also feel with each game we had a lot of points to reflect on," Takahashi says of the series thus far. "With Bravely Second: End Layer, we received a lot of comments mainly … [Read more...] about The making of Bravely Default 2, a return to form built on demos, mistakes, and Octopath Traveler

And if you'd like to check out similar retro throwbacks to gaming's classic years, be sure to take a look at our guide to the best retro consoles . While the recent wave of mini consoles has been a good thing overall, it’s easy to understand why they don’t scratch the itch for everyone. With their fixed software line-ups, the fun inevitably has a limit. What’s more, they can’t offer one important part of the fun of retro gaming – building a collection. Key Details Released : Out Now Price : From £59.99 Publisher : Blaze Players : 1 The device itself is relatively basic, in order to keep costs down. A futuristic new PUBG game has been announced
Well, we knew a new PUBG title for console and PC would be launching soon, but back in January we also heard something about a new mobile title set in the PUBG universe - and it seems Krafton has decided to unveil the latter first. PUBG: New State appears to be something of a sequel to the original PUBG, taking the battle royale into the future (2051) and introducing a new battleground called "TROI". It will apparently expand PUBG's lore, allowing players to discover "how the universe has evolved". I guess you can tell NASA to pack up the Perseverance rover, then. It sounds like the fundamentals of the original PUBG battle royale will remain the same, while adding several new features, such as a new in-game weapon customisation that allows players to make various weapons with customisation kits. These kits themselves include a variety of improvements such as performance enhancements, fire mode selection and grenade launcher attachments. On top of that you can now expect "combat … [Read more...] about A futuristic new PUBG game has been announced
