Last year Los Angeles' Anime Expo was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , with the organizers shifting focus to a 2021 event. The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation's Ray Chiang has now announced that the event will not go ahead in LA this year either, with the organization planning another "Anime Expo Lite" online event instead, as reported by Anime News Network . "With the continued uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it is apparent that we will not be able to safely hold a physical show this July for Anime Expo 2021," the statement by Chiang reads. "Anime Expo Lite will return on July 4th weekend! While we know that nothing can ever fully replicate the magic of in-person events, we recognize that online communities have long been an integral part of Anime Expo’s culture. We're still waiting to learn more about the PSVR PS5 version, but we just got a half dozen new games to look forward to for the one we already have. The PlayStation Blog just finished with a day-long PSVR Spotlight, showcasing six games headed to Sony's virtual reality headsets with new trailers and posts from the developers themselves. Fortnite has jumped on the Sea Shanty TikTok craze with its own take, an emote named Shanty for a Squad. Set to the tune of Wellerman, it features Fortnite's own lyrics singing about the island's storm brewing up and a squad surviving to get their "dub". As with the game's Christmas carol emote, the more of you in your squad using the emote at the same time, the more parts of its vocals are filled in. It's a neat nod to the collaborative TikTok, and/or a cunning plan to encourage all four squad members into a purchase. Shanty for a Squad launched on Fortnite's item shop last night, priced 500 V-Bucks, and I've had it in my brain ever since. Nintendo's widely-anticipated Switch Pro model will feature a seven-inch 720p OLED screen and output at up to 4K when connected to a TV. That's according to a Bloomberg report, which cites sources aware that Samsung will provide its screens and begin production on those from June. Nintendo's plan is to reveal the new Switch model this year with an eye to launch in time for the lucrative holiday season, the report concludes, though no firmer release window is given. The current Switch offers a 6.2 inch screen, while the Switch Lite's screen is 5.5 inches. Both are LCD rather than OLED, meaning this new model - if it launches as reported - will boast a larger and higher contrast display. The online response to news of a 720p screen has been mixed, but the gains from a 1080p resolution on a screen that size would likely not be as pronounced as some have suggested, while it would also decrease battery life and likely drive up the unit's overall price.
