Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the basement, another expansion for The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth has been announced. Following the small-ish Afterbirth+, which was supposed to be the roguelikelike cry ’em up’s final expansion, The Binding Of Isaac: Repentance will be a big’un: rolling in the wild mod Antibirth, along with new stuff. First released in 2016, Antibirth adds so many new characters and floors and enemies and things that work in different and surprising ways, and feels mighty polished too. As someone still playing Isaac every day, I’m always up for more. “It will include the amazing Antibirth mod + a ton more content that will make you shit your butts!” Isaac co-creator Edmund McMillen announced on Twitter on Saturday. “I’m working alongside [Antibirth lead dev “Kilburn”] to tweak the mod and make it canon!” McMillen added that Antibirth team member “LeatherIceCream” is involved … [Read more...] about The Binding Of Isaac adding Antibirth mod in next expansion

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance adds popular fan mod, Antibirth
Update, September 1: A new Binding of Isaac DLC has been revealed, dubbed The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. The expansion will incorporate the massive fan-created mod Antibirth. The announcement, which came from developer Nicalis, and was also posted from series creator Edmund McMillen, came last night, and refers to something called The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. McMillen provided additional details on Twitter early this morning. Nicalis and McMillen both promise more info at PAX West over the weekend, but all we’ve seen so far is a .gif revealing the game’s title. You can check that out in the tweet towards the bottom of this article. At first, it wasn’t clear what exactly McMillen and Nicalis were teasing. A new game was probably high up on the wishlists of a lot of Isaac fans, but Nicalis already have a new title, The Legend of Bum-Bo, on the way. That’ll offer its own take on the Isaac world, so another brand-new title was unlikely at this … [Read more...] about The Binding of Isaac: Repentance adds popular fan mod, Antibirth
Have you played… The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth?
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. ‘Played’ in the title suggests something concluded, but clearly if you did ever play The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (plus its various expansions), you’re almost certainly still playing it. Forever and ever. I’ve had a few conversations lately with people who just don’t grasp why anyone would stick with Isaac, this 2D roguelite/twin-stick shooter starring a crying child, for more than a few tries. The lumbering movement, the achingly slow shots, the interchangeable rooms – where’s the thrill, where’s the verve? Why would I or anyone else give so much time to this excessively simple world of poor, gore and mutant Catholic imagery? Oh, you don’t even know. You just don’t. Not until you are a dozen hours deep, and you have wielded powers you’d never even dreamed of. Not until you think of those first couple of slow, … [Read more...] about Have you played… The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth?
Ed McMillen Details The Binding of Isaac Xbox One Release and New DLC
Edmund McMillen is practically the human representation of game teases. Often talking in cryptic language or offering game news in vague tweets, McMillen knows how to keep his fanbase guessing. And while some of his most recent statements have cleared up questions about The Binding of Isaac content, there was also some vague hints at new DLC on the horizon. In a developer Q&A on McMillen’s dev blog, McMillen addressed the booster content of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+. First on his list of priorities is finishing up the last free booster for PC, which should be out “in a month or so.” Adding to that, he added that once “all the boosters release on PC, Nicalis will start porting them to console.” Onto the more substantive questions, he addressed whether The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ will be getting an Xbox One release. McMillen had an answer for that in no uncertain terms: yes, i can officially say that Afterbirth+ … [Read more...] about Ed McMillen Details The Binding of Isaac Xbox One Release and New DLC
