The PC version of Remedy's Control is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, and thanks to a financial report from Digital Bros—the parent company of Control's publisher 505 Games—we know how much Epic paid for that exclusivity: €9.49 million, which translates to just over $US10.45 million.505 Games takes 45% of that amount, leaving 55% for Remedy—which works out to around $US5.75 million. GameDaily.Biz reached out to Epic for a quote on this, and were told, "We don't comment on the terms of our deals," although Epic's representative did add, "Everyone should play Control; it's really good." We won't argue with that, James Davenport gave it 88% in his review and called it, "a gorgeous font of wonders and poop monsters and wild physics unlike anything I've played in recent memory."This kind of payout is typically given as an advance on royalties, which means that Remedy and 505 Games won't see any further payments for Control until after it earns back that advance. … [Read more...] about Epic paid $10.45 million for Control’s exclusivity

Small towns are all full of drama and despite being hit by a meteor 100 years ago, it seems that Mutazione, the town that used to be a resort, is no different. You'll play as 15-year-old Kai who's moved to town to take care of her sick grandfather. While tending to him and his garden, Kai engages in other small-town activities like BBQs and band nights where she deals with all the local gossip. From its trailer, Mutazione appears to play a bit like an adventure game: walking around talking to different characters while collecting things for your musical garden. But there's more to Mutazione than that. Mysteries are afoot. "Things aren’t as simple as they seem... Nonno has other plans for Kai," its Steam page says. "Secrets and betrayals simmer under the friendly community’s surface." On top of that, a creepy bird with a face like a plague doctor's mask seems to be following Kai. As with all story-heavy games, to reveal too much would be to spoil it. You can find … [Read more...] about Mutazione, the adventure game soap opera, is out now
I've had my share of bad luck when it comes to dead motherboards, laptops in particular. In every laptop I have ever owned (which is only three) the motherboard has died before the warranty expired. Good news for me in terms of getting it replaced free of charge, but what about those of us who fry our motherboards after the warranty expires, especially if we have a desktop PC? There are a few ways to check the life-status of your motherboard without having to take it to a technician, if you like to do things yourself. This kind of PC issue can be hard to diagnose, but ruling out all other possibilities first will help you get there—before you spend money on a new motherboard, especially if it's high-end.What causes a motherboard to die? There are several reasons for motherboard-failure, but the most common is overheating. Heat wears down all hardware components overtime, but it's particularly important that it doesn't damage the motherboard, considering that's where you … [Read more...] about How can I tell if my motherboard is dead?
Untitled Goose Game released today! We'll have a review up soon, but in the meantime we want to assure you we're working hard at this game that features a goose being the biggest asshole possible to people who probably don't deserve it.Untitled Goose Game has a series of tasks for you to complete on each level of the neighborhood you're terrorizing, but it's also fun just being a general nuisance: Stealing things and throwing them in a river, honking noisily to startle people, chasing the locals around and being chased by them in turn. Here's what we've been up to so far. Note: the gifs on this page have sound, which you should turn on so you can hear all the excited honking (though I recommend you only turn the sound on one gif at a time, unless you want to be driven mad).Sometimes putting in a little extra work to startle someone is fun. There's no need to annoy someone with long-distance wireless e-honking when I can just walk directly up behind them and honk as nature intended. But … [Read more...] about Here’s a gaggle of untitled goose gifs from Untitled Goose Game
