Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery may break established Harry Potter canon in some ways, but since it’s made under the Portkey Games banner, it’s apparently still telling a canonical story of Hogwarts in the 1980s. The game even reveals some new information about characters from the Harry Potter book and film series, specifically Hagrid’s dog Fang, and who gave him his name. For those who wish to discover this for themselves, please note that this article will have spoilers. When Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players reach Year 2 Chapter 7, they encounter a side quest where they can help Hagrid create a fire-breathing potion to free puppy Fang from the deadly vines of the Devil’s Snare. Once players manage to free the puppy, they will have the chance to give Fang his name. While players can select another choice for Fang’s name, the puppy will still end up with its canonical name when it’s all said and done. So, assuming the events of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery are truly meant to be canon, that means the sibling of the missing Hogwarts student Jacob, aka the player character, is who named Fang in the Harry Potter universe.
